Don’t forget to side bend!!! As yogis, we are often eager to achieve deep forward folds and backbends in our asana practice, forgetting that attention should also be paid to the flexibility in our side bodies. Practice along with Shawna as she demonstrates one of her favourite on-the-mat side bending postures, Gate Pose (Parighasana). Open up and release tension from one side of the body, simultaneously achieving a deep hamstring release on the opposite leg. It’s a double whammy and sure to become one of your favourites too!

Sit back and take a sit in Chair Pose (“Utkatasna”), but there is no resting here! This posture is typically found at the beginning and end of a Sun Salutation “B” and is a great way to strengthen your legs and glute muscles.
