Shasta is one of THE pioneers of Yoga in Durham Region. She was one of the first people to introduce Vinyasa Yoga as well as Therapeutic Yoga to Durham over 11 years ago. As well, she is the creator of the 200 and 500 Hour Teacher Training Program and has trained over 1,000 students, many of whom have gone on to successful teaching and studio ownership. Shasta has studied and taught world-wide including three trips to India to study at the birth-place of Yoga. She is a truly authentic, well-learned and highly experienced teacher who lovingly offers her knowledge, insight and passion to make your learning experience extraordinary.
Named after a flower, Shasta loves to watch her students bloom! Shasta has a unique way of helping students develop a deep and meaningful relationship to yoga and become inspired spirits. Her classes are engaging, insightful with just the right amount of challenge to help you shine, grow and radiate with happiness. As well, Shasta is an internationally recognized teacher, writer and speaker who has hosted radio shows, recorded meditation CDs and is currently completing a book on the yoga of relationships. Her humor, insight and passion shows in all she does.
Krista is known region-wide for her radiant smile, welcoming energy and passion & experience for yoga anatomy and bio-mechanics. As the lead Anatomy and Physiology teacher at the 200 and 500 hour program, she makes learning anatomy fun but also relevant to your practice and teaching career. Krista has developed yoga anatomy trainings ensure you have clear understanding and insight to be a safe and inspired teacher.
Krista is one of Balanced Life Yoga’s senior teachers and has taught Yoga for close to 18 years in the Durham Region. She graduated from Balanced Life Yoga’s 200 Hour Program in 2007 and the 500 Hour Program in 2010. Krista has also been a Lululemon Ambassador for a record three times, demonstrating her high standing in the community. She is an active and inquisitive student herself who is constantly training and going deeper into her own practice and the offerings of Yoga. Krista has an honors degree in Kinesiology and Biology from McMaster University and is a Secondary School P.E in Durham Region. Krista brings her fascination and enthusiasm to the study of the body and how it relates to yoga in a meaningful way. Her warm personality and engaging teaching style make her classes fun and interesting.
Angela is respected throughout Durham as a highly knowledgable and insightful teacher whose love and passion for yoga is seen in her full classes. Angela is the lead Asana Technique teacher in the 200 hour Balanced Life Yoga Inspiring Spirit Teacher Training Program. She is an RYT500 instructor, a graduate of Balanced Life Yoga 200 Hour Inspiring Spirit Program and 500 Hour Professional Development program. As well, Angela has studied with some of the world’s most respected teachers.
Angela brings together a broad range of professional learning, and infectious enthusiasm to enrich her students’ experience of yoga through deep understanding of asana technique. Angela continues to seek new ways of making yoga accessible to all, so that each new teacher graduate can confidently share the benefits of yoga with students everywhere.
Duncan is Canada’s youngest most highly certified and experienced yoga teacher, with over 900 hours of training, and close to 1000 hours of teaching experience. Duncan graduated from Balanced Life Yoga’s Inspiring Spirit 200 hour program in 2007 and its 500 Hour Professional Development Program in 2012. He has also completed his Classical Ashtanga Yoga Certification with Baba Hari Dass at the Mount Madonna Centre in California and Anusara with renowned teachers Desiree Rumbaugh, Todd Norian and Anne Greene. Duncan enjoys teaching with a fun attitude and provides an engaging asana experience with a focus on clear alignment cues and physical adjustments that allow for more ease and body awareness. He draws from several yoga lineages to give highly effective and safe hands-on assists. Although Duncan now lives and teaches in downtown Toronto, he greatly enjoys coming back to Balanced Life Yoga to be in the loving and inspirational community.
